What is a hemroid and is it possible that I have one?

I am 16 going on 17. It’s March 1, 2009. I started my period on December 30, 2008 and it lasted thru January 6. I haven’t had my period since, but I’ve had some cramping and discomfort that some have told me results from hemroids. I took Provera for my hormones even though my hormone level was normal. I’m wondering if that “period” I had was just bleeding from a hemroid.
